CO&I is responsible for delivering Microsoft web portals, Live and Online Services around the world including infrastructure, security and compliance, operations, globalization, and manageability. Within CO&I, the Datacenter Engineering (DCE) team is responsible for delivering core datacenter infrastructure for Microsoft’s cloud business. The MS portfolio consists of complex, multi-disciplinary, large scale, multi-year datacenter construction and lease projects. We are looking for a passionate, high energy individual to help build the cloud datacenters that power the world’s largest online services.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

The Due Diligence Manager (DDM) is responsible for initiating technical documentation requests from incumbent and potential datacenter lease providers and delivering complete subject matter expert assessment packages for projects in region. The DDM will manage communications, schedule meetings and close gaps in information as the primary point of contact between internal and external parties within region. The DDM will work closely with regional engineering, construction, security, networking, and operations teams throughout each project and ensure information received meets each discipline’s standards for risk assessment by the appropriate subject matter expert. The DDM will report project status regularly and drive continuous improvement in tools, process and procedure.
Ability to manage multiple projects and coordinate with internal team members/stakeholders and vendors including but not limited to legal, operations, security, networking, engineering, construction and site acquisition. Duties include but are not limited to the following:
  • Operate portfolio information tools and manage document repository
  • Provide external vendors and internal team members with portfolio information tool orientation and support
  • Work to implement improvements and features in portfolio information tools
  • Schedule meetings between vendors and internal subject matter experts
  • Present week over week project status report with gaps in region through lease/tech audit completion
  • Ensure engineering SMEs meet committed SLAs
  • Evaluate and grade vendor engagement, documentation and engineering staff responsiveness
  • Track open items post lease takedown with follow on teams
  • Organize travel planning and “ready to review” actions needed at site visit
  • Lead ongoing technical audits and provide summary findings in standard format

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Arts or Sciences or Business or technical discipline or equivalent experience
  • Understand fundamentals of datacenter technical elements and how they apply to a datacenter environment
  • At least 3 years’ experience in auditing mission-critical infrastructure such as largescale manufacturing, pharmaceutical, oil gas industry and datacenters etc.
  • Proven ability to apply critical thinking in complex situations
  • Proven track record as a Project or Program Manager
  • Must be able to deliver results and projects in a timely manner
  • Ability to interact with internal business groups and stakeholders to ensure primary responsibilities are aligned with group’s strategic directions
  • Strong analytical, creative thinking, written, and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to present using the MS Office Suite, MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint

Preferred, not required:

  • Professional Engineering is a plus
  • An understanding of datacenter leases is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of lease contracts and remedies would be helpful
